Even though the weather wasn't perfect today (and after enjoying one of the best beds so far @ Kaunas City Hotel) i went out to explore the city a bit more. There are lots of beautiful places, nice shops and fancy restaurants behind doors that wouldn't let you expect. But if you don't mind this kind of hide and seek...then this city would be worth a visit.

The train-ride to Kaunas was utterly pleasant.
Had fantastic company, a Polish girl studying in Vilnius whom i'll probably meet again and two elder Swiss women travelling by car and train through Poland and the Baltic area.
Although the 'best' thing was, when i left the trainstation in Suwalki (i was in there for about 40min) the weather had changed, the rain was gone and the sun was shining..
Anyway, i'll stay in beautiful Kaunas now for two nights and head on towards Vilnius on tuesday morning.

I intended to go for my royal stage today, 150km from Polish Suwalki to Lithuanian Kaunas.

...but someone 'up there' seemed to disagree.

At 5am i woke up (already bright up here) checked the weather (just a few clouds) and went to sleep again. 7am, a few seconds before my alarm went off, i woke up to the sound of rain drumming on the roof. Heavy rain...
..and it didn't look to get better the next few hours.
So i changed my plans and intend to take the train instead now. Seems to become an adventure for it's own, as i reached the deserted trainstation in Suwalki.

With the help of Martyna, i've got th chance to stay in an Agroturystyka again tonight. The place is situated close to another one of those numerous lakes and with a day full of sunshine again, i just had to take a swim. Wonderful.

Riding through Masuria is like being in another Poland - compared to the travel i had from Cracow to Warsaw. Totally stunning.
