arriving in Masuria

I intended to go into a decent hotel (according to tripadvisor...) with spa, situated just at one of those many lakes.
..well..as i arrived there, they told me that they're already fully booked.
So i went on and ended on a camping, just besides this hotel. The camping was nice though and i even had the chance to sunbath.

On the road to Masuria - the Polish region with many lakes - i could mostly drive through forests. Because of the sunny weather, the sand on the sind of the road and the look of the forest, i sometimes had the feeling of being in the Mediterranean rather than in Poland.

Ah yeah..and i met a Parisian couple on the way to Tallinn also. We didn't have the same route though and they were in kind of a hurry, so we split up after about 25km and some interesting chitchat

Altogether, i was also quite lucky concerning the weather. I even had a few hours of blue sky during the afternoon.
Then the last 10km came and with this mark the first few raindrops. I ended up cycling through a torrential downpour (you may spot it where the road disappears in this white mist).

..okay, a few of you might intervene and say, why didn't you wait a few minutes, take a short break and continue after the downpour?
Well..i'd have to admit, that would probably have been the most reasonable solution.
But yeah...the feeling of a warm shower after returning 'home' while being wet like a drowning rat...just priceless. To me at least =o)

Planned my route a bit better (instead of just trusting the routing-algorithm), avoided bigger highways and was therefore rewarded with calm roads through Mediterranean-like forests and lush meadows. Nice start indeed.
